alterhumanity is a massive part of my identity, and it's something i've known about for myself since i was... gosh, maybe 9 years old? yes... it's been that long.

i sort of always felt nonhuman, in one way or another, but at that age is when i finally encountered otherkin tumblr, and i was lost in it immediately. i couldn't believe hundreds, if not thousands of other people, understood what i felt! hence for some time, maybe ~5 or so years, i identified with the term otherkin.

now, i generally consider myself unlabelled alterhuman/nonhuman. however, i still sometimes use -kin or other related terminology to refer to those identities of mine. it has been, and will continue to be a major part of my life.

if you're curious, i made a list (ah... a kinlist, in 2024?) below :3

animal-related

babydoll sheep 🌸 mule deer 🌸 golden retriever 🌸 werewolf

fiction-related

sunny (WOF) 🌸 chirin (Chirin's Bell) 🌸 cream unicorn cookie (CROB) 🌸 jack-o' (GGST) 🌸 sylveon (PKMN) 🌸 aelita (Deepwoken) 🌸 pastry cookie (CRK)

hearttypes

angel 🌸 spottedleaf (WC) 🌸 faline (bambi) 🌸 furfrou (PKMN)

well, what does being alterhuman mean to you?

it's a very broad question, and i find myself having a hard time articulating my answer. my answer for certain identites would be different for others; for some, perhaps i know in my heart, some i feel vivid feelings and memories for, you understant the jist of it. my alterhumanity has many roots, i would say psychological being the strongest of them.

each is variably more vivid. sometimes one is far more dominant than others, othertimes it feels as if they're all strong at once. it usually just depends on the time, but they never go away, even if i push them into some far corner of my mind. i find it's better to embrace it.

at the end of the day, i just don't see myself as human. sometimes just mentally, but sometimes physically aswell. it's an identity, somewhat of a lifestyle, and will always, always be deeply engrained in me.

also, if any canine alterhumans see this and are wondering, i am a 'the slop' guy, not a dry kibble guy.
